
Mountain High is fully insured to guide Climbing and backpacking trips anywhere in the world. Our staff is knowledgeable, well-trained, and just fun to be around. Our guides actively participate in Rock Climbing and Backpacking adventures of their own, and teach groups on a regular basis. Let us to help you learn a new sport, or try out your already honed skills on an exciting customized trip where we do all the work and you have all the fun.
With our partner, Alabama Small Boats, we also offer boating adventures and learning experiences.
Our introduction course will get you outside climbing on beautiful southern sandstone. On this trip you will climb (top-rope), and learn basic climbing techniques. This is an introduction to the basics of technical rock climbing, including equipment and safety procedures. This trip goes to Hurricane Creek, AL or Sandrock, AL, weather dependant.
Cost: $55 per person
What to bring: Our classes last the full day. This means you need to be prepared to be outside and away from modern conveniences
for the full day. Here are some suggestions:
We leave from Mountain High Outfitters (Cahaba Village/ Hwy 280) or Mountain High Bridge Street in Huntsville at 7:45am the morning of the trip. You’ll need to provide your own transportation for the drive to the climbing area. Harnesses and helmets will be provided along with a limited size range of rental climbing shoes. We can custom fit you in the store for boots, and any climbing equipment.

Mountain High's trained and experienced staff can take you just about anywhere you want to go. We will work with you to plan a trip customized to your budget, abilities and goals..

Some rental gear can be provided. We can custom fit you in the store for Backpacks, boots, and any climbing equipment.
We offer a 5 mile canoe trip from Buck Creek in Old Town Helena that ends at Shelby HWY 52 which takes from 2-4 hours and a 10 mile trip from the River Chase area that ends at Shelby HWY 52 which takes from 4-6 hours (1 shuttle for 10 mile trip on Saturday only). This is a family friendly trip and a great thing to do on your day off (no children under 6 years old).
All Rentals include boat, paddles, PFDs (Personal Flotation Devises a.k.a. Life Jackets), and a shuttle. As of right now we do not offer discounts for taking boats off site. The fee is $50 per day for taking recreational canoes and kayaks “on your own.”

Shuttles Leave on the hour, so please arrive 15-20 minutes early to sign in and check equipment out.
Shuttles are only on Saturday and Sunday unless special arrangements are made in advance.
Reservations – Reservations MUST be made and
all trips paid in advance to reserve a spot. A credit card is needed
on file for any lost or damaged equipment. Emails will not be valid
