Canoe/ Rafting Trip Suggested Packing List
Thinking ahead before a canoe or rafting trip can mean the difference between
a fun, unforgettable experience, and an uncomfortable nightmarish trip.
Here are some suggestions from our experiences in raft guiding and paddling.
Feel free to call
a store or stop in and ask for some customized instruction.
- Water! Remember that being outside in hot weather will require much more
water than usual to keep you hydrated.
(We suggest at least 2 liters (64 ounces) of water for a 6 hour day trip.

here for an example of a 1 liter bottle)
- Food, snacks
- HATS
and SUNSCREEN will save you great discomfort! And a 'keeper' cord for glasses/
sunglasses is suggested.
- A small waterproof “dry
bag” is suggested for keeping camera, cell phone, wallet/purse,
keys, etc.
- Light rain jacket.
- Shoes that cover your toes, especially if there's a possibility of walking
/ carrying canoes through shallow areas.
Suggestion: Keen
Sandals, Salomon
Tech Amphibians, even old sneakers. Chaco Sandals or flip flops will
endanger your toes. ;)
- Leave a change of clothes (and shoes) in a vehicle at the take-out spot.
